Morean Arts Center ~ Clay, Glass, Chihuly Collection / March 4, 2025 / $106.00 p/p
We will visit and tour three fascinating areas of the Morean Arts Center and Museum in St. Petersburg. First stop is the Morean Center for Clay, then the Morean Glass Studio, and finishing up with the stunning, permanent collection of world – renowned artist Dale Chihuly’s unique artwork!
First we will tour the Morean Center For Clay and see a live clay demonstration. The Morean center For Clay is the largest pottery studio in the Southeast and one of the largest in the United States. The Morean Center for Clay is located in a historic freight train depot in the Warehouse Arts District of St. Petersburg. The Center is home to more than 50 studios of ceramic artists creating functional and non-functional clay art.
Following the clay demonstration and tour, we will enjoy a nice lunch at the popular Park Shore Grill which has earned multiple Golden Spoon and Wine Spectator Awards of Excellence and their chef, Chef Tyson Grant was voted ‘Best Chef of Tampa Bay’ in 2025.
We then travel to the Morean Glass Studio and Hot Shop, the West Coast’s largest and most active museum and glass studio for a live glass blowing demonstration. There you will observe a resident glass artist creating unique works of art, an amazing feat to witness.
To top off this wonderful day of art, we will have a docent led tour of the famous Chihuly Collection!
Designed so that the art and architecture work together to create a visitor experience unlike any other exhibition of Chihuly’s art. The Collection is marked at the entrance by an iconic 20-foot sculpture created especially for the site.
The Collection includes Chihuly’s spectacular large-scale installations such as Ruby Red Icicle Chandelier created specifically for the Collection along with several popular series works including Macchia, Ikebana, Niijima Floats, Persians and Tumbleweeds, which have thrilled audiences around the globe. Each space has been designed individually to complement each installation producing unique visual experiences.
Dale Chihuly is a pioneer of the studio glass movement, Chihuly is credited with transforming the methods of creating glass art and thereby leading the development of complex, multi-part glass sculptures and environmental art. However, his contributions extend well beyond the boundaries of the studio glass movement and even the field of glass: his achievements have influenced contemporary art in general.

We will pick you up at one of these locations and drop you back off there when your tour has ended. You can pick the location that is most convenient for you.
